IDO Annual Update 2022 Meeting April 12th

The City Council’s Land Use, Planning, and Zoning (LUPZ) committee will hear proposed citywide changes to the Integrated Development Ordinance (IDO) on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 5 pm. This hybrid meeting takes place in the Vincent E. Griego Chambers in the basement of City Hall and via Zoom. See Zoom details below. 

These citywide text amendments are legislative, so you may speak to Councilors directly about any of the proposed changes.

IDO Lighting Regulations Update Kickoff Meeting March 30th

The Planning Department invites you to a meeting with our consultants who will be working on updating lighting regulations in the Integrated Development Ordinance (IDO) for the 2023 Annual Update. 

Please join us for this initial conversation to identify what needs to be improved in our existing regulations and what’s working well. 

  • Thursday, March 30, 5:30 pm – 7 pm
  • Plaza del Sol, 600 2nd St. NW, Basement Hearing Room

Clanton & Associates, an award-winning lighting design and engineering firm, are experts in regulating outdoor lighting and illuminated signs to comply with Dark Skies Ordinances. Clanton will be evaluating existing regulations in the IDO and preparing updates for the public and staff to review over the coming months.

LUPZ Hearings for Overlay Zone Changes

The City Council’s Land Use, Planning, and Zoning (LUPZ) committee will hear three proposed changes to Overlay zones in the Integrated Development Ordinance (IDO) on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 5 pm. This hybrid meeting takes place at City Hall, 9th Floor, Council Committee Room, and via Zoom. See Zoom details below. 

These small area amendments will be reviewed/decided as a quasi-judicial matter, meaning City Councilors will be acting as judges rather than as legislators. For that reason, the public may not speak to Councilors directly outside of a hearing about these proposed small area amendments. For questions regarding these proposals, please contact the Council Planning Manager, Shanna Schultz:

Hearing #2: Environmental Planning Commission (EPC)

The Environmental Planning Commission (EPC) will hear the IDO Annual Update on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 8:30 am via Zoom.

Send Comments

  • Comments sent by 9 a.m. on Monday, January 9th will be considered in the staff report.
  • Comments sent by noon on Thursday, January 12th will be appended to the staff report. 
  • Comments sent by 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17th will be forwarded to EPC for review prior to the hearing.
  • Send comments addressed to Chair MacEachen to abctoz@cabq.gov.

Attend the Hearing

  • Agenda will be posted here.
    • (Note that the IDO amendments will be heard first and second on the agenda.) 
  • If you would like to speak on a particular agenda item, raise your hand when public comments are taken for each case.
    • Typically, Neighborhood Association Representatives and other organizations are given 5 minutes to speak.
    • Individuals are typically given 2 minutes to speak.
