City Council Hearing

Proposed changes to the Integrated Development Ordinance (IDO) affecting zoning citywide are expected to be on the City Council  agenda on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 5 p.m.

Please note that the sponsors of the bills intend to make a motion to defer hearing both bills (O-22-54 and O-23-77) until June 5, 2023.

City Council meetings are hybrid, so you can participate in-person in the Vincent E. Griego Chambers in the basement of City Hall and via Zoom.  

These citywide text amendments are legislative, so you may speak to Councilors directly about any of the proposed changes.

Applications Being Accepted for Civilian Police Oversight Board

The recently revamped Civilian Police Oversight Advisory Board (CPOA) is actively seeking applications for new board members. Applications are being accepted from both new candidates and those who previously served on the board. The City recently reduced the time commitment required for CPOA board members and is also offering a stipend to those who complete the CPOA training. Interviews will start in mid-May so you are encouraged to submit your application as soon as possible. Sustainability Public Meeting Seeks Community Input

Join the City’s Sustainability Office for a transportation-focused Climate Action Plan Implementation Community Engagement meeting. The community is invited to share their thoughts with the City, who will tailor its sustainability projects to meet the public’s needs and expectations. The upcoming Climate Action Plan Implementation Community Engagement meeting will focus on electric vehicle related projects and programs, including Transit’s Zero Emissions Plan, as well as opportunities for the public to provide input. The virtual meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 5:00 – 6:00 pm via Zoom and the public is encouraged to attend. Project Heart Start Hosting Free CPR Training This Saturday

Project Heart Start Day 2023 is this Saturday, April 15 and the public is encouraged to come out and get CPR-trained for free! Come out to University Stadium for one of three sessions and be trained by members of the UNM football team, women’s soccer team, and other athletes along with Project Heart Start staff. You’ll learn hands-only CPR, how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), how to save a choking victim and how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a heart attack. There is free parking at Stadium West, and sessions at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Those who sign-up online will receive 2 FREE tickets to the Football home opener vs. Tennessee Tech.
