Are you interested in advising the Mayor and City Council on cable services and safeguarding the rights of cable services customers? Do you have expertise and experience in mass media, communications, information technology, or consumer advocacy? The City of Albuquerque is requesting Applications to serve on the Cable, Internet and Public Education and Government (PEG) Advisory Board. The Board oversees the City’s Cable Franchise Ordinance with Comcast/Xfinity, is the advisory body regarding PEG channels, and oversees the status of electronic technology, data transmission; and internet access. APD Crime Prevention Unit Seeks Feedback on Proposed Dog Walker Watch Program

The Albuquerque Police Department’s (APD) Crime Prevention Unit is considering starting a Dog Walker Watch Program and seeks feedback from residents on this suggested idea. Dog Walker Watch is a crime prevention and awareness program, similar to Neighborhood Watch, that encourages neighbors out walking their dogs to be extra “eyes and ears” for law enforcement. Dog owners and walkers are trained on how to effectively observe and report suspicious behavior, while enhancing the partnership between the police and community. Solid Waste Management Hosting Spring Fixit Clinic in March

Do you have a broken item in need of repair? Join the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Department for their Spring Fixit Clinic on Saturday, March 8 from 09:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Fuse Makerspace, 101 Broadway Ave NE. Bring your broken household items and learn from our experienced coaches how they can be repaired.

This is a free, all-ages event where people can learn how to assess, disassemble, and hopefully repair broken household items instead of sending them to the landfill. The acceptable items include bikes, small appliances, electronics, and sewing projects. Skilled individuals who are handy and experienced in sewing, woodwork, leatherwork, electronics, small appliances, and jewelry are also invited to register as coaches.
