Westside Boulevard Project Update August 18th

WESTSIDE BLVD. TO HAVE VARIOUS LANE CLOSURES EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND AS CREWS WORK ON COMPLETING CONSTRUCTION; AT LEAST ONE LANE WILL REMAIN OPEN IN EACH DIRECTION

NEW
As crews work to complete construction on this project, both eastbound and westbound traffic on Westside Blvd. will have various lane closures between Golf Course Road and NM 528 for the next few weeks. At least one lane will be open in each direction (eastbound and westbound).
 
All sidewalks have been opened on the south side of Westside Blvd.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
• There are various right lane closures on northbound and southbound Golf Course Road north and south of Westside Blvd.
 
Regular work hours are Mon.-Fri., 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m., although the contractor may work longer hours or on weekends if needed. Saturday work is planned for the next few weeks. All construction is weather permitting and subject to change without notice.

CREWS TO CLOSE OUTSIDE LANES ON WESTSIDE BLVD
BETWEEN GOLF COURSE RD AND NM 528 FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK-10 DAYS
BEGINNING MONDAY, AUGUST 8, 2022
Update as of Friday, August 5, 2022

Beginning Monday, August 8, 2022 and lasting for about 7-10 days, through about August 15-18, 2022, crews will close the outside lanes of eastbound and westbound Westside Blvd from Golf Course Road to NM 528 for paving and other construction activities. A dedicated left-hand turn lane will be open for westbound traffic on Westside Blvd to head south on Golf Course Road. There will a combination thru/right turn lane and a combination thru/left turn lane open for eastbound traffic on Westside Blvd.to access southbound or northbound NM 528.
The inside lanes of eastbound and westbound Westside Blvd. will have one lane open in each direction.

NEW: Beginning today, Thursday, July 28 or tomorrow, Friday, July 29, the right lane allowing eastbound traffic on Westside to head southbound on NM 528 will be CLOSED so crews can work on ramps at the southwest corner of the intersection. Two lanes of eastbound traffic will be open – a thru/left-hand turn lane and a thru/right-hand turn lane.  
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
• There are various right lane closures on northbound and southbound Golf Course Road north and south of Westside Blvd.
•  Westbound traffic on Westside Blvd is reduced to one lane between NM 528 and Golf Course Rd.
•  Eastbound traffic on Westside Blvd is reduced to one lane between Golf Course Rd and NM 528.
•  Traffic on La Sierrita Rd and 7 Bar Loop Rd is able to turn right and head eastbound on Westside Blvd, but is NOT able to turn left and head westbound on Westside Blvd. Motorists can access westbound Westside Blvd by taking 7-Bar Loop Rd south to Driftwood Ave, heading west on Driftwood Ave, then north on Golf Course Rd. Westbound motorists on Westside Blvd can access La Sierrita or 7 Bar Loop Rd via Golf Course Rd south to Driftwood Ave, then east on Driftwood Ave to 7 Bar Loop Rd.

NEW SIDEWALK DETOUR BETWEEN LA SIERRITA AND NM 528 IN PLACE AS OF MONDAY, JULY 18TH FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS; VARIOUS RIGHT LANE CLOSURES TAKING PLACE ON NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND GOLF COURSE ROAD NORTH AND SOUTH OF WESTSIDE BLVD.

NEW: Beginning Monday, July 18 and lasting about two (2) weeks, through Monday, August 1, the sidewalk on the south side of Westside Blvd. will be CLOSED. Pedestrians can use La Sierrita Road to Amaranth Ave to Montecillo Drive to the cul de sac on Pineleaf Place to access a trail leading to NM 528 (see map to right).

Also for the next few weeks there will be various right lane closures on northbound and southbound Golf Course Road north and south of Westside Blvd.

•  Westbound traffic on Westside Blvd is reduced to one lane between NM 528 and Golf Course Rd.
•  Eastbound traffic on Westside Blvd is reduced to one lane between Golf Course Rd and NM 528.
•  Eastbound traffic on Westside Blvd has only one dedicated left-turn lane and one combination thru/right-turn lane at NM 528.

PAVING POSTPONED: 7 BAR LOOP TO REOPEN THURSDAY, JULY 7 OR FRIDAY, JULY 8, 2022; LA SIERRITA TO CLOSE SAME DAY

DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES:
Paving has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, so the opening of 7 Bar Loop and closing of La Sierrita have been pushed back to either Thursday, July 7 or Friday, July 8, 2022. 

La Sierrita is expected to be closed for about three (3) weeks, thru late July, 2022. During this closure, residents will be able to use 7 Bar Loop as a detour.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts
•  The sidewalk on the south side of Westside is CLOSED from Golf Course Rd to La Sierrita Rd through at least early July. Local residents can use 7 Bar Loop to La Sierrita as a detour.
•  Westbound traffic on Westside Blvd is reduced to one lane between NM 528 and Golf Course Rd.
•  Eastbound traffic on Westside Blvd is reduced to one lane between Golf Course Rd and NM 528.
•  Eastbound traffic on Westside Blvd has only one dedicated left-turn lane and one combination thru/right-turn lane at NM 528.
•  When the streets are open, traffic on La Sierrita Rd and 7 Bar Loop Rd is able to turn right and head eastbound on Westside Blvd, but is NOT able to turn left and head westbound on Westside Blvd. Motorists can access westbound Westside Blvd by taking 7-Bar Loop Rd south to Driftwood Ave, heading west on Driftwood Ave, then north on Golf Course Rd. Westbound motorists on Westside Blvd can access La Sierrita or 7 Bar Loop Rd via Golf Course Rd south to Driftwood Ave, then east on Driftwood Ave to 7 Bar Loop Rd.
