Identity Theft Awareness Week

The Federal Trade Commission reminds us that Identity Theft Awareness Week starts today, January 27. If you or someone you know has had their personal information used to open accounts, if you’ve had your tax refund stolen, or if someone has filed a fake health insurance claim in your name, that’s identity theft. It can happen to anyone, but simple steps can help lessen the chance it will happen to you.

The FTC will host free podcasts, webinars, Facebook Live interviews, and other events focused on avoiding and recovering from identity theft and spotting scams. There is information geared toward all walks of life, including military servicemembers, senior citizens, young adults, and business owners.
