The Animal Welfare Department is seeking donations of new or gently used dog houses to help pet owners who need assistance during the cold winter months. Medium to large-sized dog houses are needed most, and can be custom-built if you’re handy with hammer and nails.
You can drop off doghouse donations at the Eastside Shelter, 8920 Lomas NE or at the Westside Shelter, 11800 Sunset Gardens SW, any day between 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. For more information, contact Allen Hargis at: ahargis@cabq.gov
The Department of Senior Affairs is collecting donations of new items to share with older adults in need this holiday season. Donations will be delivered to older adults enrolled in the City’s Care Coordination program. Items should be new and unused, and include:
You can also order from Senior Affairs Amazon Wishlist at: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/3AL14D63JK5H9. Donations may be dropped off at any City of Albuquerque senior or multigenerational center before November 27.
The Animal Welfare Department is seeking pet food donations, particularly peanut butter. Can you help? You can drop off donations at either the Eastside or Westside shelters, or you can order from Amazon and have food and goodies shipped directly. When donating peanut butter, please only donate the regular kind, not the kind that needs stirring, and please make sure the peanut butter does NOT contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
Celebrate the season of giving by helping the Animal Welfare Department increase the comfort of homeless animals in City shelters. The wish list for cats and dogs include small cat toys, treats, beds, brushes, wand toys, scratchers, blankets, towels, dog enrichment toys, collars, harnesses, pill pockets, and Kong’s toys. Please help them by fulfilling their wish list as they spend their holidays at Animal Welfare shelters while waiting to find forever homes. Donations will be accepted through December 31. Members of the public can drop off their donations at the Animal Welfare Department shelters and at participating small businesses throughout the city.
