NMDOT Warns of Toll Scam

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) warns the public of an ongoing text and e-mail message scam, in which recipients receive threatening text or e-mail messages stating they owe fines for unpaid tolls on toll roads. However, New Mexico has no toll roads. If you or someone you know receives this type of text message, do not click on any links or scan any QR codes in the messages, and delete and block the sender. National Water Safety Day Promotes Aquatic Safety Best Practices

Sunday, May 18 is National Water Safety Day and the Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to Eisenhower Pool, 11001 Camero NE, for a day of free, family-friendly events designed to teach about water safety. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Taking Place Saturday, May 31

The Solid Waste Management Department (SWM) is hosting its annual free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 31, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Balloon Fiesta Park, 5000 Balloon Fiesta Parkway NW in the east lot. Participants must print and fill out the participation form and submit in the entrance line, must have all drop-off items visible in the trunk or backseat of your car, and must remain in their vehicles. A Safety Kleen employee will offload the hazardous waste. 

Accepted Items include: paints, fertilizers, cleaners, pesticides, pool chemicals, used motor oil, automobile batteries, fire extinguishers, propane bottles, medical-grade oxygen cylinders, and over-the-counter medications. 

Items that will not be accepted include: explosives, ammunition, other compressed gases, radioactive waste, biomedical waste, business-generated waste, non-hazardous waste, electronics/e-waste, appliances, and tires. Water Utility Authority Hosting Online Class and Offering Rebate on Water Bills

The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA) invites you to their next online class to help you Weather the Drought. In “Xeriscape: Making Your Yard Desert-Friendly,” you’ll learn new ways to reduce water use outdoors. Eligible attendees will receive a $20 rebate on their water bill for participating, so register today.
