Virtual Panel Discussion on Domestic Violence Sheds Light on Important Public Health Topic

In support of October being National Domestic Violence Awareness month, the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line is hosting an online panel conversation on October 9th that will focus on understanding and addressing domestic and intimate partner violence (DV/IPV) and addiction. Topics will include the signs, symptoms, and definitions of each, and training will be offered on how to recognize the signs and symptoms of DV/IPV, how to understand the dynamics of DV/IPV and the role of addiction, and find resources for those who need help. Junk Jog Event Invites Public to Exercise and Pick up Litter

You’re invited to join Keep Albuquerque Beautiful and the City’s Solid Waste Management Department on Saturday, October 23, for the third annual Keep Albuquerque Beautiful Junk Jog plogging event. Plogging, a combination of jogging and picking up litter, began several years ago as an organized activity in Sweden because of growing concerns about marine debris and litter. Keep Albuquerque Beautiful, alongside the City Solid Waste Management are bringing this trend back to the Southwest by inspiring Burquenos to help make our communities cleaner, safer, healthier and more beautiful. APD NW Area Command September 2021 Newsletter

First, I would like to say I am glad to be the commander for the Northwest Area Command, and thank you for
the support you have provided to the area command
and officers. A little about me, I started with the
Albuquerque Police Department in 2001 after serving two years as an officer in Roanoke City, Virginia, where I started my law enforcement career. Over the course of my career at APD I worked as an officer in Field Services Bureau (FSB) until 2008 in Southeast, Valley, Foothills and Southwest Area Commands. I was promoted to sergeant in 2008 and to lieutenant in 2014, where I supervised teams in FSB in multiple area commands. In 2018 I was promoted to commander and spent the last three years in the Special Operations Division (SOD).
